Akhand Ramayan Paath at Sitaram Das Mandir

Ramcharit Manas is continuously chanted for 24 hours to make one Akhand Ramayan Path. All the well-rhymed verses are melodiously chanted to savor in the real essence of the creation. The text is composed of seven kands namely, Baalkand, Ayodhyakand, Aranyakand, Kishkindhakand, Sundarkand, Lankakand and Uttarakhand that revolve around Lord Rama’s life. Reciting and understanding this text helps in staying calm and focusing on one’s success and growth.

This paath is best performed majorly during the festive season of Diwali, Navratri, Ram Navmi and at the time of house warming or a fresh start.

How the Akhand Ramayan Paath is done?

Sankalp is taken by the prime organizer. Then details of the person for whom this paath is done are recited, like name, birth details, gotra, parent’s name, spouse’s name, etc. Primary Gods and goddesses like Ganesha, navgrah(nine planets), shodus matrukas(16 mothers), sea god Varun and Agni are requested to validate the paath by their gracious presence. Also Ram ji and his clan along with hanuman ji are requested to shower the paath with their presence. Then purification rituals called nyaas are carried out from the Ramayana.

Now a group of singers begins reciting the paath in a melodious verse tone without any interruption and the paath is finished in one go. Then hawan takes place to purify the soul and the surroundings with hawan samagri. Then aartis of all the invoked gods and goddesses are done for their blessings. The Prasad offered to the deities is now distributed among devotees. Finally, the deities are thanked to bless the occasion and are escorted to their respective abodes by visarjan.
