Chinnamasta Puja and Yagna

Devi Chinnamasta is a ferocious goddess. She is also known as Chinnamastika or Prachanda Chandika. She severed her own head and she holds a sword in her hands. Her two companions Dakini and Varnini accompany her in drinking blood. She is often painted dancing on Lord Kama and his Consort Rati while they are in between a sexual act. She resembles Vajra yogini, the Buddhist tantric tradition.

She has a frightening look with a severed head and blood flowing out from her body but her demeanour is very pleasing. She signifies the joy of transcending physical body. Her happiness shows the philosophy of minimalistic attachment to body which can be easily decayed. She throws light on the immortality of soul.
